We had a little classic skiing scavenger hunt today which seemed to be enjoyed by all. In groups of 4 (well, they were supposed to be 4, but there was some inevitable mixing around), skiers combed Sleepy Hollow trails bringing back particular items (fallen twig on the side of the trail, snowball, leaf), looking for others (Eli's Escape trail sign, Fellowship of the Wheel trail marker, the number of doors on the round barn, Butternut Cabin), and even doing some activities along the way (doubling poling for 10 strokes on at least two sections of trail, using the herringbone technique up three hills, doing two step turns). By the end of the session, it seemed like most of the tasks were accomplished (there were even more than what is mentioned above!) and I witnessed some snowballs being used as ammunition on one of our ever helpful parents. I suppose I should have expected that after encouraging the making of such tempting items. Ow!!!
Looking towards this weekend. It seems like a few of our skiers will be heading to Bolton and more are welcome. I have confirmed that the use of Sleepy Hollow rental equipment at this race is possible and we can wax in the wax room Friday night. Please let me know if other skiers are interested in the race and what I can do to help support you all.
Coming soon are some great parent photos from the race. I'll post when I get a chance, so get ready!
Don't forget, Friday is a skate day.
