Long wait, great race!

We had a lot of waiting around on Saturday, but the weather was nice and everyone was very patient. Although it was a confusing course (and when I contacted the race director about some of our girls going off course he said that even his top middle school girl had the same directional difficulties as did some from other teams, so we weren't the only ones), there was some really good skiing out there on some tough terrain. Steep downhills, steep uphills, flats where you had to maximize your efficiency, and apparently some rollers in the woods. Our skiers had no fear and mastered the course with some impressive skate skiing. Everyone is improving their timing and pole planting, really upping the tempo on the hills and getting in great rhythm. Some of you are really quite graceful!

Thanks to all the skiers and parents for their patience and help with getting our crew going and cheering them on. There is amazing team spirit on our team already and some requests for homemade spandex uniforms and a new team name of the Sleepy Hollow Worms. I guess those arm/headbands just don't cut it. We'll see what we can do for future races :o)

Here are some pictures. A few are actually from practice on Friday. I keep making it my goal to get some good shots, but then I get all distracted cheering and fumble with the camera, so I guess we'll just go with whatever we can get with my limited photography skills and poor multitasking abilities. If any parents have pictures they want to email to me, I can post them to the blog to share.
